11th IBRO World Congress of Neuroscience – Granada

Almost the entire team attended the 11th IBRO World Congress of Neuroscience, organized by IBRO and the Spanish Neuroscience Society (SENC), held from September 9 to 13 in Granada. The congress covered a wide range of fascinating topics, including:

  • Emotion, memory, and cognition
  • Nervous system development and related disorders
  • Neural excitability, synapses, and plasticity
  • Aging and neurodegenerative disorders
  • Computational neuroscience

It was a great opportunity for networking, and we met several neuroscience researchers from Spain. Javier, Guille, Ángela, and Marta all presented posters at the event.

Javier’s poster discussed the role of neuron orientation in describing the effects of tDCS on the awake mouse cerebellum. Guille presented his research on the immediate and long-term effects of tDCS on neuron activity in the mouse cortex. Ángela, presenting her first congress poster, shared her work on the effects of transcranial static magnetic stimulation (tsMS) on neuronal activity in awake mice. Finally, Marta presented a poster on the use of optogenetics to explore the effects of tDCS on different types of neurons in the mouse cortex.

This congress was particularly special and memorable because it took place in Ángela’s hometown of Granada. We also had the pleasure of reuniting with former lab members Carlos, Álvaro, and Claudia (Javier’s first PhD student!) as well as colleagues from Seville. It was truly an unforgettable experience!
