Big news from our lab! Our colleague Guillermo Sánchez-Garrido Campos is a step closer to earning his PhD with the publication of his first first-author paper in Frontiers in Neuroscience!
The paper, titled “Preclinical insights into gamma-tACS: foundations for clinical translation in neurodegenerative diseases”, explores how gamma transcranial alternating current stimulation (gamma-tACS) could play a key role in treating neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
This mini-review compiles the latest preclinical and clinical findings, highlighting how gamma-tACS can synchronize neural activity, enhance synaptic plasticity, and reduce neuroinflammation. The research suggests that gamma-tACS may not only improve cognitive function but also help restore disrupted brain oscillations, offering a promising non-invasive approach to slow disease progression.
